Etiquette with Smaug by justjingles Etiquette with Smaug by justjingles

"…You have nice manners for a thief… and liar,” drawled Smaug.

Threw some colors onto last night’s wind-down-for-bed speed painting and I am pretty satisfied with it!  I really enjoyed the second Hobbit movie. Might have to paint up some Thranduil or Thorin in my future, too! Here’s an awesome remix of Ed Sheeran’s ‘I See Fire’ song.

I enjoyed how spiteful Smaug is, and how he says - entirely insincerely, one can be certain - that he almost wants to give Bilbo the Arkenstone, just so that he can see the sickness ruin Thorin.

I love this, oh my gosh.  The tales and songs fall utterly short of your magnificence, oh Smaug, greatest and chiefest of calamities.... <3

I think he might actually have been tempted to see Thorin go mad . . .

That's amazing and I absolutely love it!   When you say speed painting....how long is that usually?

Thanks!  Well the speed-painting part is the black and white/monochrome part, which took a couple hours I think. Then the coloring took more time on top of that. You can see that some areas still remain pretty undeveloped :)

I like the atmosphere!

To be completely honest, i've seen the first Hobbit movie and mmmh, now i want to see the second, and even if i'm used to judge after seeing, the trailer really worried me xD xD xD

All that aside, that's a really good art, would be cool for the book too :D (ok in the book Bilbo is invisible, but after all the hobbit was visible even in the original picture made by JRRT :P lanternhollow.files.wordpress.…

Thanks, glad you dig the atmosphere!

I wonder what you will think of the 2nd Hobbit movie. It's a bit of a romp!

I am re-reading the book slowly now and it's so delightful. Alan Lee's artwork is just fantastic. He does such a good job giving atmosphere and impression to his work. The link you sent didn't load for me sadly!

Yep i love Alan Lee's illustrations, but i suggest you to read, after the original, The Hobbit comic book by Chuck Dixon with the (awesome) art of David Wenzel :)

about the link uhm this is the safest i can think of upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… if doesn't work we can blame wikipedia xD (btw is just the original Tolkien picture i told above)

 It was a fast-paced romp!  The Hobbit movies seem to be a little less sombre in tone than the LOTR trilogy, and this one indulges in some hilarious action sequences that kind of bring to mind an exceptionally over the top D&D game.  I personally enjoyed the heck out of it!

My mum sat next to me put her hand on my arm and went "*Gasp* Nooooo!" pffff
I was really worried too, to be fair though XD But I think anyone with a heart sat there thinking "DON'T YOU DARE"

LOL, moms. I agree I think the whole theatre held their breath. You know the guy who plays Beorn is quite handsome in real life. They had to make quite an effort to turn him into ... Eyebrows.
